In 2009 Kayalami Ranch applied for a development project to divide the 155-acre Ranch into smaller smallholdings that entailed a complete rezoning. A comprehensive environmental study was undertaken, which included detailed surveys of all the trees and surface features like contours, soil types, etc., to be able to request the rezoning of the property.
